Ugandan Chef Mama D breaks world record for longest cook-a-thon

We are currently in the midst of a season filled with remarkable achievements and breaking world records.

As the excitement surrounding Afua Asantewaa’s bold sing-a-thon attempt, which concluded today, continues to linger, we have received news of another extraordinary feat.

A woman from Uganda, known as Mama D but officially named Dorcus Bashema Kirabo, has surpassed a previous record in the cook-a-thon domain, setting a new Guinness World Record in the process.

Alan Fisher had achieved a remarkable cooking time of 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds in Japan from September 28 to October 3, surpassing , who held the record at 93 hours, 40 minutes, and 11 seconds.

However, Mama D officially shattered this record on Thursday, December 28, extending her cooking marathon beyond the established mark.

Embarking on her culinary journey on December 10, Mama D has now earned the prestigious title of the new Guinness World Record holder for the longest individual cooking time.

Despite her incredible achievement, she remains dedicated to further extending her time on the clock, showcasing her unwavering passion for the culinary arts.

Mama D’s remarkable accomplishment places her in the esteemed company of other notable Ugandans who have made their mark in the world of records.

Individuals such as Raymond Kahuma, who holds the record for the largest Rolex weighing 204.6 kilograms, Joshua Cheptegei, the record-breaking 10,000-meter runner; and Phaneroo Ministries Church, led by Pastor Grace Lubega Matovu, which holds the world record for the longest applause, clocking in at an impressive 3 hours, 16 minutes, and 1 second, are just a few examples.

Similar to Afua, who eagerly awaits the confirmation of her record by the officials of Guinness, Mama D is also patiently awaiting the official acknowledgement from Guinness World Records.

She is diligently submitting the necessary evidence of her record for thorough review.
