Why is forgiveness the key to happiness?

I’ve once heard a scholar say :

” If we want the Almighty to forgive us we have to be forgiving towards others who hurt us as well ”
The scholar went on to say:

“How do we expect our Creator to simply be merciful towards us if we are not merciful towards mankind”

These words urged me to push myself to forgive and let go of all grudges I had towards others.

The beauty I’ve discovered in forgiving another person for the hurt they have caused is the lightness that was felt from leting go of this huge burden on my shoulders.

Imagine a grudge as a huge rock in your path of success, this rock stops you from achieving your success. This rock called grudge pulls you down and drowns you. You feel completely suffocated. You so unhappy in your own life because of the same person who harmed you just because you holding onto the grudge.

Your first step to reclaiming your happiness and achieving peace and freedom from this suffocation is putting your trust in your Creator and knowing that He deals with all affairs fairly as He knows what’s in every individuals hearts.

The second step is letting go of the grudge. Looking pass this hurt and being the better person.

Forgiveness is a favour we do for our own souls and for our peace of mind. Once an individual discovers the beauty of putting their trust in their Almighty and forgiving others, they would’ve discovered a vital part to peace in this life.
