A near-seasonal weather pattern to greet the New Year for most of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal conditions in the Southeast. 

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation throughout the northern half of the U.S. should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather across the South, from central and southern California to the southern Atlantic Coast.
