Lancaster Archery Foundation A New York archery program plans to generate new and increased interest in 3-D archery, with help from the Lancaster Archery Foundation.
Cornell Cooperative Extension Warren County 4-H, of Warrensburg, N.Y., received a $1,000 grant from the foundation to put toward the purchase of new Rinehart 3-D targets.
“The funds requested will enable our club to incorporate 3D target shoots into our existing and future youth leagues,” 4-H organizers wrote on their grant application.
“Expanding into 3D shoots will help us retain members by challenging them to master different archery skills in a friendly competitive manner.”
The Extension works with local schools to offer archery as supplemental physical education, and organizes archery leagues throughout the year.
Rob Kaufhold, president of the Lancaster Archery Foundation board of directors, applauded the Extension’s efforts to push 3-D archery.
“There are several games competitive archers can play, and you never know which one will appeal to which kids,” he said. “When you expose kids to the different games, you give them the chance to pick what interests them. That’s key to longevity in the sport.”
Based in Lancaster, Pa., the Lancaster Archery Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expand, develop and promote 3D and target archery to help people improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills through participation in competitive archery.
