Artist Spotlight: Eugenie E - Runner-Up in African Art Contest

Ukrainian-born artist, Eugenie E, tied as the 3rd runner-up in the African Art contest. Her beautiful art piece titled Flower of Africa finished strong in the contest and in my personal opinion, deserved to place much higher in the top 3. The votes didn't do this piece the justice that I see it deserved. But I have to say more about this masterpiece. 

Flower of Africa is a beautiful representation of what African art is. It depicts a graceful and elegant African woman draped in a traditional headdress speckled in gold highlights and wearing attire and jewelry in the most bold African-inspired design and print. The realistic shading and coloring of this piece pulls at my heartstrings and my personal preference for realism and beautiful Afican portraiture. The woman in the picture  looks like she's contemplating something. But this piece can also be interpreted in multiple ways depending on the viewer. However, the viewer's eyes interpret it, it exudes something positive and it's hard to take one's gaze from it. It's intriguing.
