Olivier Roumy @ BuildCal Turf - Los Angeles, CA

Jacob: Olivier, Can you tell us a little bout yourself? What made you enter into the synthetic turf industry?

Olivier: I am originally from France, formerly in the fashion industry, and always displayed an eye for design. Growing up in the Loire Valley, well known for the Castles, the most beautiful gardens, and for being a wine country, like Sancerre Wine. I drew inspiration from these sources. However, I have since transitioned into becoming a prominent discreet figure in the artificial grass industry in the greater Los Angeles Greater Area. Today, I stand as a leading expert, skillfully transforming spaces with his expertise and passion for crafting artificial landscapes, infusing art and elegance through our innovative, cooler synthetic turf systems in a uniquely environmentally responsible way.

My entrance into the artificial grass industry is a story of mentorship and hands-on learning. Introduced to this industry by a close friend, Tim Dennis, who previously worked at Duraturf, I embarked on a journey of discovery. Under Tim’s expert guidance, I delved deep into the intricacies of the artificial grass sector. Patient instruction and a dedicated pursuit of knowledge equipped me with the essential skills to excel in his newfound venture.

Jacob: Any favorite turf memories?

Olivier: One of my most cherished memories is an encounter with my childhood hero from the iconic show, Happy Days, and A-list celebrities, including renowned sports legends.

Jacob: Where do you see the synthetic turf industry going in the next 5 years?

Olivier: With seven years of hands-on experience in Southern California and a proven track record, I envision a bright future for the turf industry. I am particularly excited about the industry’s trajectory, driven by technological advancements, including innovative products such as TCool infill, known for its cooling capabilities. Additionally, I am a staunch advocate for the use of artificial grass products made in the USA, ensuring they adhere to the highest environmental standards, specifically being 100% PFAS & PFOA Free, in accordance with EPA guidelines. BuildCal takes immense pride in blending artistry, elegance, and a staunch environmentally friendly approach. Buildcal Turf focuses on delivering turf that not only captivates the eye but also provides a tactile experience that is delightful, incredibly realistic, and even cooler by an average of 60 degrees Fahrenheit, echoing the sensation of natural grass.
