Interestingly, there are different ways to install it on different surfaces. Firstly, we will go through the best ways to install on hard surfaces, detailing each little step. This should help you to install an artificial lawn that results in the minimum amount of maintenance, ensuring your garden goes the distance.

So, here’s how to install a fake lawn on a hard surface

You can install a synthetic lawn on a hard and smooth surface. The main consistency that you need to look out for is that the area will drain. If you find an area that will drain, you can lay a lawn. This does include previously decked areas.

Remove debris from any surrounding areas

So, the first thing you need to do is remove any debris from the area which you wish to cover. This is because you have to lay it on a flat surface. If you are lying the roll on top of stones and rocks etc, it will be incredibly lumpy and unpleasant to stand on. Once you’ve cleaned the area, you can then lay the grass on that area.

Stretch out your synthetic turf

To do this, what you need to do is stretch out your lawn. In the same way, you would pull out a duvet or sheet to stretch it out. If you have two people, this is easier to do. Stretch out the lawn to remove any ripples and fix around the perimeter using Greenbond adhesive, and trim each edge with a trimming knife.

Stick artificial grass down with adhesive

Using Greenbond adhesive is a Go Artificial recommended action plan for installing your synthetic turf. You can then flatten this using a carpet roller to ensure it sticks to the ground. Get someone else’s opinion as well as your own, and if both of you approve then you can brush the pile with a stiff broom.

What could damage an artificial lawn?

Your artificial lawn may be damaged or not last for a long time if you don’t install it properly. For example, lumps, bumps and humps can cause it to look uneven. If not noticed straight away, not only will the grass not stick to the ground and become all lumpy, different angles of it will catch the sun and it could become very different fades.
