Belief is shaken as the ego is undermined. There's a frustrating sense of "more" out there and you may reach in odd directions in an attempt to locate that special goal or escape from an unpleasant reality. But the goal is never reached and the escape weakens you.
The square is an active aspect, so while this influence can be draining there's also restlessness and anxiety - something is missing. The key is to accept that, for the moment, things will be doubtful and uncomfortable. But doubts do not mean you're worthless. Bruises to the ego don't mean you need to make things worse by opening yourself up to toxic influences or giving up.
It's ok to reach for more if you differentiate between what's uplifting vs undermining. You will need to set ego attachments aside as you explore certain Neptune themes such as creative work, spirituality or new beliefs. You're exploring something that transcends your current wisdom and it's not about status or accomplishment or being right.
