2024 Bible Reading Plans

“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” This quote, commonly attributed to Benjamin Franklin, is applicable in many areas of life. I believe one of those areas is our Bible reading plan. Many good New Year’s resolutions to read Scripture have failed because of lack of direction. You may choose to read through the whole Bible in a year or two, or you may strive to focus in on either the Old or New Testament. Others may tackle a single book of the Bible to read and study throughout the year. Whatever you decide, I would encourage you to find a plan and discipline yourself to stick to it. If we neglect the spiritual discipline of reading God’s Word, our spiritual growth will be stunted, we won’t be as sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s work, and we are more in danger to fall into sin or false ways of thinking.

The last three years I have done the Five-Day Bible Reading Program. It provides a schedule that allows me to read through the Bible with built in “catch up” days. I learned of this plan through Tim Challies and you can read his thoughts about it here.

If you’d like other options, Ligonier has put together a vast selections of plans that might work for you. A few examples include reading the whole Bible in a year, reading it chronologically, reading it in two years, as well as many others!
