Yachts and rolexes and Dior, Oh buoy!

HOLY SH#T

What I experienced at Troy’s surprise 50th Birthday on The YOT’s VICE river cruise of Brisbane was unbelievable. It was EXCEPTIONAL, it was STUNNING, it was CRAZY and I LOVED every second of it. Between these words and the amazing photos below I am going to try and do the evening justice.

We launched from the sunny shore at Brisbane’s Powerhouse and stepping onto the Luxury yacht VICE we were immediately welcomed by its amazing crew and luxury finishings. I’m no stranger to travelling the beautiful Brisbane River by boat/ferry and CAT and I have also had the pleasure of photography parties on the water at sunset. BUT experiencing the grand majesty of our river city on the deck of a luxury yacht was just indescribable. I would say it is an absolute MUST for anyone with an affinity for Brisbane and a truly once in a lifetime gift to give someone. If you’ve followed some of my previous blogs you will know that Atmosphere is King and creating a mood and vibe that’s conducive to partying will make or break your event. Well, as the cocktails were poured with the sunset silhouetting the Storey Bridge and guests took up residence sprawled across the cushioned bow of the yacht I couldn’t help but grin from ear to ear and allow myself to get swept up in the moment. Troy’s daughter Georgette hadn’t just organised a surprise party, she had created an absolutely unforgettable experience for him and his closest friends and family.

With at least three generations on the dancefloor all moving to the beat of tens, if not hundreds of empty shot glasses getting slammed on the bar the party felt unstoppable. Everyone knew everyone and the roar of conversations and laughter carried out across the water. If I wasn’t having so much fun I would have almost felt bad for the other party goers out on the water that night, lining the decks of their boats to catch a glimpse of the ruckus coming from the luxury yacht.

We’ve had the absolute pleasure of photographing the Woodford family for over 4 years now and with each party we attend and shoot we are totally blown away by how generous, loving and incredible they are. Troy’s birthday was no different and reminded us why we love our work and clients so much. Happy Birthday Troy!
