The 2025 1500 Ramcharger takes the stage as "the ultimate electric truck." Under the hood, it boasts a 3.6-liter V6 engine, not as a power source for the wheels but as an on-board generator, effectively quashing range anxiety concerns.

This isn't your typical plug-in hybrid electric vehicle; the 3.6-liter engine isn't mechanically connected to the wheels. Instead, it serves as the charging source for the onboard generator, which, in turn, replenishes the substantial 95-kilowatt-hour battery. Ram has its sights set on an impressive total range of up to 690 miles, encompassing the battery and the charging system. A 27-gallon fuel tank feeds the V6, further extending the range.

The Ramcharger incorporates two electric drive modules (EDM): a 335-horsepower (250-kilowatt) front module and a 319-hp (238-kW) rear module. What sets it apart is the ability to automatically disengage the front wheels, allowing them to spin freely for enhanced efficiency. The rear EDM can be equipped with an electronic-locking differential.

Collectively, these power elements produce an astounding 663 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque, propelling this EV from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a mere 4.4 seconds. The battery provides approximately 145 miles of electric-only range. The Ramcharger demonstrates its prowess with a towing capacity of 14,000 pounds and a payload capacity of 2,626 pounds.

While Ram has kept the truck's curb weight under wraps for now, the power distribution is notable. The purpose-built 3.6-liter V6 generates 174 horsepower (130 kW) for the onboard generator. Drivers can employ this energy either to recharge the battery when it's depleted or to conserve it. The vehicle can simultaneously tap into both the generator and the battery for maximum power output, and various software and drive modes help manage the charging parameters, including a specialized one for towing.

Sitting atop Stellantis' STLA Frame platform, the Ramcharger accommodates its battery between the frame rails toward the front of the vehicle. The fuel tank is positioned behind the battery but ahead of the rear EDM. Adding to its prowess is a standard four-corner air suspension system, offering five different modes.

The truck's battery, kept cool by liquid cooling, lies flat underneath the vehicle's floor. When it comes to charging, it impresses with 400-volt DC fast charging, providing up to 145 kilowatts and adding 50 miles of range in just 10 minutes. Charging options include ports for Level 1, Level 2, and DC fast charging.

In terms of design, the Ramcharger beautifully combines elements from the new 2025 1500 and the 1500 REV. Its forward-leaning grille, accompanied by a pulsating RAM badge indicating the charge status, sets a distinctive tone. The truck features a body-color front fascia and EV-specific taillights, underscoring its electrifying presence.

As for pricing, Ram has remained tight-lipped, with expectations of revealing that information closer to the anticipated on-sale date towards the end of 2024. Enthusiastic buyers can reserve their place in line to pre-order the Ram 1500 Ramcharger and Ram 1500 REV models for a limited time at RamRev.com.
