Chevy And GMC Crossovers Recalled Over Door Strikers That Could Fracture

The recall is small, but impacts the 2024 Blazer, Blazer EV, Equinox, and GMC Terrain

The Chevrolet Blazer EV has suffered another setback as the model is being recalled alongside its ICE-powered counterpart.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a handful of 2024 Blazer, Blazer EV, Equinox, and GMC Terrain crossovers have door strikers that might fracture. If this occurs, the door could open unexpectedly.

The door strikers were made by the Brano Group and were not properly heat-treated to meet GM’s hardness specifications. As a result, they could potentially fail.

Chevy And GMC Crossovers Recalled Over Door Strikers That Could Fracture

The issue was discovered after a striker on a 2024 Equinox fractured during a “routine side door adjustment” at the San Luis Potosi assembly plant in Mexico. This kicked off an investigation that found three strikers fractured during side door adjustment at the plant, while another fractured prior to installation.

GM isn’t aware of any incidents occurring outside of the plant and only 265 vehicles are impacted by the recall. A vast majority of them are Equinoxes as only one Blazer and one Blazer EV are being recalled.

Owners will be notified in February and they’ll be able to take their vehicle to a dealer, who will replace all four door strikers and attaching bolts, free of charge.
