Citroen to launch 3 new cars next year

In the upcoming year 2024, Citroen is set to make significant strides in the Indian automotive market with the launch of two new models, including an electric SUV and a high-riding sedan. The French automaker, which made waves in 2023 with the introduction of the eC3 and the C3 Aircross, is gearing up for an exciting year ahead.

Citroen C3, C3 Aircross Automatics:

One of the notable introductions will be the Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission for the C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross SUV. This move aims to address a crucial gap in Citroen’s India portfolio, offering customers the convenience of automatic variants. While the exact launch date is yet to be confirmed, expectations point to an early 2024 release.
The automatic variants are expected to feature a third-generation version of the current 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, emphasizing Citroen’s commitment to localizing their offerings. Citroen C3X:

Later in 2024, Citroen plans to introduce the C3X, a distinctive midsize sedan that merges fastback styling with SUV-like high ground clearance. Positioned to compete with lower variants of popular models like Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Skoda Slavia, and VW Virtus, the C3X brings a unique proposition to the market. Sharing the common modular platform (CMP) with other Citroen models, it will utilize the 110hp, 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, providing a choice between a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

This model adds a fresh dimension to the sedan category, standing out with its high-riding, fastback-like design. The upcoming Tata Curvv will be its primary competitor in this segment. As with other Citroen offerings, the C3X is expected to feature a comprehensive equipment list, offering Indian consumers a compelling choice in the midsize sedan category.

Citroen eC3 Aircross:

Towards the end of 2024, Citroen plans to launch the eC3 Aircross, an electric derivative of the C3 Aircross. Building on the success of the recently launched C3 Aircross, the electric version is a logical step, given the versatility of the common modular platform supporting both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric applications.

While details about the battery and motor specifications are yet to be disclosed, it is expected that the eC3 Aircross will leverage a larger battery and motor to accommodate the Aircross’s larger size and weight. Similar to its petrol counterpart, the eC3 Aircross is likely to be offered in both five- and seven-seater configurations, providing consumers with electric mobility options.
