Businessman Makes Bomb Threat on SpiceJet Delhi to Bengaluru Flight

BENGALURU- A 32-year-old businessman who traveled from Delhi (DEL) to Bengaluru (BLR) on a SpiceJet (SG) flight on Tuesday found himself in custody after being arrested for questioning the airline’s call center staff about their apparent indifference when he reported leaving his wallet on the plane.

The incident took a serious turn when he asked them if they would have responded the same way if there had been a bomb in his purse.

Bomb Threat on SpiceJet Flight

Upon landing at 9:20 pm, textile merchant Shreyansh Chamaria, residing in Thanisandra, contacted the SpiceJet call centre at 10:15 pm to report his misplaced wallet.

Dissatisfied with what he perceived as a lackadaisical response from the staff, Chamaria posed a hypothetical scenario, questioning whether they would treat him similarly if there were a bomb in his wallet.

In response to the call center staffer’s inquiry about the bomb’s location, Chamaria reportedly stated that it was not their concern. His remark, “Nahi bataunga, jab phatna hoga phatt jayega” (I won’t tell; when it explodes, it will explode), raised concerns.

The call center promptly informed airport authorities about the potential threat, leading to a thorough check of the flight. Ultimately, it was deemed a hoax, and Chamaria’s wallet was discovered on the plane at 11 pm.

Chamaria was taken into custody but later released on bail. He explained to the police that he did not intend to make a bomb threat but was dissatisfied with the call center’s delayed response to his complaint.

He asserted that his concern stemmed from the wallet containing crucial ID proofs, as well as credit and debit cards.
