White Sox Add Yet Another Veteran This Offseason

The Chicago White Sox have not done much so far this offseason.

After a disappointing 2023 season, the White Sox are hoping to return to the playoffs in 2024.

One thing going for them is that the AL Central is not a good division.

They should be able to compete for a division title with a few improvements to their roster.

Every team that wants to make the playoffs needs to have good pitching.

As of now, the White Sox do not have that.

But, they are doing their best to try and improve the bullpen.

According to Jeff Passan, the White Sox have signed left-handed pitcher Tim Hill to a one-year deal.

Left-handed reliever Tim Hill and the Chicago White Sox are in agreement on a one-year, $1.8 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Hill, 33, was nontendered by San Diego this winter and joins a White Sox bullpen where he’ll get plenty of higher-leverage opportunities and innings.

Hill struggled last season pitching for the Padres.

He threw 44.1 innings to an ERA of 5.48.

Also, he gave up 59 hits across those innings.

Hill is not going to be a difference-maker in their bullpen.

But, the one thing going for him is that he is left-handed.

The White Sox have not shown a proclivity to spend money in recent offseasons.

Looking at their current roster, they do not look like a threat in the AL.

Coming off a 61-win season, it is hard to be excited about their team.

It looks more and more like the White Sox are going to enter a rebuild.

There have been discussions that they want to trade starting pitcher Dylan Cease.

If they do that it will be to acquire more prospects that they can build around in the future.
