There’s a lot of buzz around AI software for businesses these days, and it feels like everyone wants to jump in—but where do you even start? Do you need something custom, or would a SaaS solution do the trick? To help clear things up, I sat down with our own AI consulting experts, Sheldon Muir and Lawrence Tenuta. Together, they’ve been leading Kanguru’s AI business solutions initiative, which includes two new AI software products currently in development, along with our growing AI consulting services. Hopefully, this interview will answer some of the questions you might have about AI and inspire you to explore how it could fit into your business.
What is your role at Kanguru ?
Sheldon: I’m one of the lead developers at Kanguru and have been working on AI projects for the past few years—both in my spare time as a passion and through client and internal company projects. Because I like to stay ahead of anything related to AI software and AI development, I’ve been helping shape Kanguru’s AI business solutions service offering.

Everyone is talking about AI business process optimizations, but what are the biggest hurdles when it comes to implementation?
Sheldon: I think the question is often framed the wrong way. People don’t always realize how AI can be implemented in any business, regardless of size. I could easily think of 10–20 different ways a one-person hotdog stand could use AI to run more efficiently: automated social media marketing, inventory management, analyzing peak selling hours, choosing the best locations, tracking and ordering stock, identifying flavor preferences, and more. If there are that many AI business process optimization solutions for a hotdog stand, imagine what’s possible for a larger organization.
A lot of people simply don’t know where to start—or whether AI is even right for them. But once you speak to someone knowledgeable, the question naturally shifts to where AI software can help you most. And that’s exactly where an AI consultation comes in.
Why did AI seem like a natural expansion to Kanguru’s service offering?
Lawrence: It felt like a seamless extension of what we already do. Kanguru offers a wide range of services that connect departments, people, and processes, so adding AI business process optimization solutions fits right into our ecosystem. By automating repetitive tasks and streamlining workflows, we’re freeing up resources—both human and financial—for our clients. It’s the right step forward for any business facing growing pains, especially those weighed down by manual tasks or data entry bottlenecks.
What is Kanguru currently offering in terms of AI?
Lawrence: Right now, we’re working on three AI business solutions. I’m developing an AI video generator that creates animated slideshows with seamless transitions. Sheldon has been working on an AI-powered voice assistant. Beyond our software projects, we also offer AI consultation services supported by our broader AI business process optimization solutions.

What do our AI business solutions provide that other AI software doesn’t?
Lawrence: Many customers have specific needs that out-of-the-box tools just don’t address. Often, they’ll end up paying for higher-tier SaaS plans that include features they don’t need—reducing cost-efficiency. That’s where an AI consultation becomes valuable. It helps us define AI business process optimization solutions tailored to their exact requirements while keeping costs aligned with their goals.
What sparked the idea to expand our service offering?
Sheldon: After working at Kanguru for over 10 years, I noticed several internal pain points that AI could help smooth out. As I began building some tools, word got around to our clients, and they became interested in how AI software could support their own operations. Two clients in particular deal with massive amounts of paperwork prone to error, delays, and time-consuming verifications and data entry. I helped develop solutions for them, and soon other clients began asking about implementing AI business solutions as well. Now that we have a team of trained AI developers in-house, it made sense to expand our offering.
Tell me more about the AI-Powered Voice Assistant you’re working on.
Sheldon: This is a project I’ve been developing for a while. We saw a real need for customizable AI-powered voice assistants within small and medium-sized businesses. It’s an affordable, streamlined version of what we built for two of our clients. You can feed your company’s FAQs into the system, allowing the assistant to answer calls during off-hours in a natural, conversational tone—without losing potential leads. It integrates directly with your systems, ensuring callers receive up-to-date information. Billing is based on token bundles, so businesses can scale usage according to their needs.
You’re working on an internal tool that uses voice conversations. How does our AI software bridge the gap between other AI-powered voice assistant SaaS solutions on the market?
Sheldon: When you ask a generic AI tool a question, it relies on broad, publicly available information. The solutions we build—for Kanguru and for our clients—are trained on business-specific data such as emails, PDFs, images, databases, and internal processes. As a result, the AI doesn’t just provide accurate answers; it responds like a true subject-matter expert, powered by a large language model tailored to that business.
Can you share more about the AI video generator project you’re working on?

Lawrence: I wanted to focus on more creative AI software projects. We already had a client in the funeral home industry who creates slideshows for families, and we wanted to help enhance that experience. Our AI video generator will allow them to offer even more value by turning static slideshows into animated videos. Clients will be able to log into their portal and create their own video slideshows—from childhood to old age—without needing someone to manually edit everything afterward. It’s a meaningful upgrade that’s easy to resell.
How does this compare to other AI video generators like Sora?
Lawrence: Our AI video generator is being designed in-house for a very specific use case: generating live-feeling videos from a sequence of still images. Tools like Sora can create videos, but they often blend the images into a single generated scene rather than stitching them together chronologically. While we do leverage existing AI video generators like Sora, we’ve built additional programming that allows us to assemble the stills into one continuous video. The result is a smooth, animated version of a client’s slideshow that brings their loved ones’ memories to life.
