As most ELL teachers who have been around for awhile know, for a long time English Central was the only site on the web that provided automatic feedback on student pronunciation.
And it wasn’t cheap.
Now, with the advent of AI, there are plenty of alternatives, and you can check them out at THE BEST SITES FOR ONLINE PRONUNCIATION FEEDBACK – DO YOU KNOW OTHERS?
But none of the alternatives have been quite like English Central, which provides videos that users learn from and then have to repeat. It’s a very engaging process.
Now, though, there is a video-based alternative.
It’s called ShadowingGo.
It has a lot of similarities to English Central – users watch and listen to to snippets of videos, users repeat them, and then AI evaluates the user’s pronunciation.
A key difference, though, is that it is a decent sized collection of videos you can practice with at no cost. In fact, you don’t even have to register in order to use them.
If you want access to more videos, though, you have to pay a monthly fee, and you can upload your own.
But I think there are enough free videos that most users wouldn’t need to subscribe for quite awhile.
I’m adding this info to THE BEST SITES FOR ONLINE PRONUNCIATION FEEDBACK – DO YOU KNOW OTHERS?
