New Subject Editor: Arnost Sizling

I am a macroecologist at Charles University in Prague, where my research explores the fundamental drivers of species spatial patterns. My work focuses on the synthesis of macroecological patterns, including species-area relationship, species abundance distribution, decays in community similarity, and range extents along environmental gradients, with a specific interest in biodiversity indices, possible underlying mechanisms, and invariances. Bridging my background in Physics (MSc) and Ecology (PhD), I focus on a geometric approach to ecological modelling, as species distribution maps and observed variable plots must adhere to geometric principles. I am particularly interested in how these biodiversity patterns shift across the Holocene and along continental-scale gradients.
