Revenge has been explored in a handful of great war movies, as can be seen in the likes of Braveheart, Spartacus, and Inglourious Basterds.
Deciding what counts as a war/revenge movie is a little harder than one might expect. Would Gladiator count, seeing as it begins as a war movie, but really isn't one after its opening battle sequence? It’s certainly a revenge movie, as is The Revenant, which has a war party attack right near the start. But neither truly feel like war movies, or at least they don’t quite have enough of a focus on a war – or warfare in general – to count.
