The 43 best Disney Channel characters ever, ranked

©2010 RAMEY PHOTO Throughout the years, the Disney Channel gave us some of the most iconic TV and movie characters of many of our childhoods. Here’s our very scientific ranking of the best Disney Channel characters of all time, from last to first. Disney Channel In Hannah Montana, band member Jesse was a mysterious and enticing love interest. He has to be low down on the list, though, because many people wanted Miley to end up with Jake. Disney Channel In Lemonade Mouth, Olivia White (portrayed by Bridgit Mendler) was shy and retreating, but exceptionally talented and kind. She was lovely, in short. Disney Channel The Suite Life of Zack and Cody was undoubtedly a great show — and obviously, Cody Martin (Cole Sprouse) was one half of the titular dynamic duo. While he was often selfish, he could also be sweet. Disney Channel On Sonny With a Chance, Sterling Knight portrayed Chad Dylan Cooper, a selfish, entitled TV star who sometimes had softer moments. He made for a great watch. Disney Channel While Liv and Maddie‘s Liv Rooney was high-strung and high-maintenance, Maddie was the total opposite — a chill girl, if you will. Her dynamic with her sister was often touching. Disney Channel Though many people are fond of Selena Gomez‘s breakout role as Alex Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place thanks to her sassiness and courage, we often found her to be self-absorbed. Still, she takes us back. Disney Channel Shake It Up, the show that launched Zendaya‘s career, also introduced us to Bella Thorne as sassy CeCe Jones. She was lots of fun. Disney Channel In Liv and Maddie, Dove Cameron played two VERY different twins. We had a slight preference for high-strung popstar Liv. Disney Channel Cadet Kelly is a total classic, and Hilary Duff‘s character was totally endearing. Disney Channel We can’t help it if we have a weak spot for a sarcastic talking pet — Sabrina the Teenage Witch, anyone? In Dog With a Blog, Stan had hilarious opinions that never failed to entertain. Plus, well, he’s super cute. Disney Channel There’ll always be a place in our hearts for High School Musical‘s female lead. Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) was kind, talented and knew what she wanted, qualities that are always welcome in a movie character. Disney Channel In Disney Channel Original Movie Lemonade Mouth, Stella Yamada was the rock ‘n’ roll guitarist. It doesn’t hurt that she was portrayed by uber-cool real-life singer Hayley Kiyoko. Disney Channel Zuri Ross (Skai Jackson) was so adorable that she could get away with murder in the chaotic Ross family from the show Jessie. We loved her so much. Disney Channel Irresponsible, chaotic Austin Moon (Ross Lynch) was also a deeply loveable character — and a perfect foil to Ally (Laura Marano). Disney Channel Hannah Montana‘s Jackson Stewart (Jason Earles) may have been extremely big-brother-ish in that he was always giving Miley a hard time and letting her take the fall, but he was always a good guy in the end. Plus, his slapstick duo with Rico was hilarious. Disney Channel Demi Lovato may not be proud of the way she acted while filming Sonny With a Chance, but she was still hilarious on this show about a Midwestern teen getting her big TV break. Disney Channel All of Camp Rock was quite frankly fever dream-adjacent, but that doesn’t mean we don’t still have a serious soft spot for Joe Jonas‘ floppy-haired Shane Gray. Disney Channel Jake Ryan (Cody Linley) from Hannah Montana was often the worst, most self-involved character ever — but he always found a way to endear himself to Miley again, and to us too. We won’t lie, we were shipping these two. Disney Channel Austin & Ally was quite the memorable-character factory. Trish De La Rosa (Raini Rodriguez) won over audiences with her devil-may-care attitude and the hilarious ways she managed to get fired from every job she was hired for in record time. Disney Channel With Jessie (Debby Ryan) as his nanny, young boy Ravi Ross (Karan Brar) was an adorable nerd and scaredy cat — which made his dynamic with sister Zuri Ross, a precocious troublemaker, all the more adorable. Disney Channel If you were a Lizzie McGuire and That’s So Raven Disney kid, you’ve probably never even heard of Austin & Ally — but the next-gen shows really did hold up. Portrayed by Laura Marano, Ally Dawson was a talented songwriter and a hilarious, responsible foil to her counterpart Austin’s chaotic energy. Disney Channel Olivia Rodrigo played Nini Salazar-Roberts in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.  Disney Channel Shia LaBeouf starred as Louis Stevens, the mischievous, prank-loving youngest child, in the hit Disney Channel comedy series Even Stevens from 2000 to 2003. Disney Channel Ashley Tisdale achieved mainstream success as Maddie Fitzpatrick in the Disney Channel teen sitcom The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Disney Channel Kim Possible, voiced by Christy Carlson Romano, was iconic.  Disney Channel Zac Efron played Troy Bolton in Disney’s High School Musical. “Bet on It” will live on forever.  Disney Channel While not Disney’s most iconic or memorable character by quite a margin, Teddy Duncan of Good Luck Charlie — played by Bridgit Mendler — was deeply likeable. She was a bit of a nerd and obviously a great big sister to Charlie, given the videos she made for her. Disney Channel As the chief ideator of the Phineas and Ferb universe, Phineas Flynn delighted audiences with his evermore out-there plans. In short, he always had us asking, “Hey Phineas, whatcha dooooin’?” Disney Channel Miranda Sanchez (Lalaine) was an exemplary friend to Lizzie McGuire — and we will always adore her for it. Disney Channel Ferb Fletcher on Phineas and Ferb was a boy of few words, but every line he did speak in his charming British accent was sharp as a tack. Disney Channel Everyone on Hannah Montana pretty much hated Rico (Moises Arias), and with good reason: That kid was straight-up evil. Still, though, we had fun, didn’t we? Disney Channel There was no Hannah Montana without Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus) and boy, did we love that girl’s silly antics — especially when she was being a normal student and not a pop star. Disney Channel Many of us grew up with Hilary Duff‘s iconic character Lizzie McGuire. She helped us make sense of the problems we were dealing with too, and for that we will be eternally grateful. Disney Channel Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb came with endless comedic potential. We couldn’t get enough of that awkward, bumbling, incompetent scientist who couldn’t even be a bad guy properly — because he was too nice deep down. Disney Channel Perry the Platypus was Phineas and Ferb’s pet platypus — who moonlit as a secret agent.  Disney Channel Okay so this is niche, but if you’ve never seen the 2006 masterpiece Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior — starring our fave Brenda Song — you’re truly missing out. It’s the story of a high school girl who finds out she’s destined to save the world from evil. Disney Channel On Hannah Montana, Dolly Parton pretty much plays herself — except she’s styled simply as “Aunt Dolly” who is Miley’s godmother (as in real life). We would need to have a heart of stone not to simply adore this icon. Disney Channel Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale) may have technically been the bad guy on High School Musical, but fans loved her then and love her now thanks to her witty comebacks, over-the-top fashion choices and dedication to her craft. Plus, she always redeemed herself in the end. Disney Channel It’s hard not to feel deep sympathy for Mr. Moseby in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, who was just trying his best to manage a giant luxury hotel while foiling the twin-instigated mischief. Disney Channel Gordo, like Miranda, was an insanely good friend to Lizzie McGuire. Thankfully for all the fans who had shipped them all along, they finally ended up kissing in the movie version. Phew. Disney Channel We loved that Lilly Truscott was such a faithful friend to Miley on Hannah Montana, and that she had her own strong personality as well. We could all use a Lilly in our lives. Disney Channel Raven Baxter (Raven-Symoné) was a legend, hilarious and witty, fearless and fabulous.  Disney Channel And the winner is… We’re not ashamed to admit that we still quote London Tipton (Brenda Song), the Disney Channel’s spoofy answer to Paris Hilton. “Yay me!” anyone?
