Eyewear Styling Academy In the media.
We were delighted to be featured in the January edition of Dispensing Optics Magazine. Thanks to @ABDOMembership for featuring us in their 'Up your Styling Game' feature.
This feature includes some fantastic insights into how to up your styling game in the world of eyewear. It includes sections on Expressing your own style, being aware of style, knowing your collections, personality types and a section from our very own Eva Dave on how to 'Dare to be Different'.
In the article, Eva Dave, is quoted:
Dare to be Different
Eva Dave, owner of Style Optique Opticians in Market Drayton, Shropshire, is the founder of the Eyewear Styling Academy. When she and her husband took over the practice it was, ''quite old-fashioned looking inside'' she recalls. ''Reps would come and show you blacks, browns and tortoiseshells. I was always looking for colour. I started to go to trade shows at Paris and Milan. It was a bit of a risk because we are a traditional market town.' They held a dare to be different event and discovered people were interested in colourful, distinctive frames. Eva trained as an image consultant, but there was nothing specific to eyewear. ''It was something I put together myself. People responded really well to it." Other opticians started to ask Eva whether she would teach them about style. Now she offers videos, live zooms, and e-learning to practices all over the world, there are firms from Australia to the US in the academy. It's grown beyond Eva herself, including a director of operations, a business manager and virtual assistant. As well as boosting sales, styling offers ''emotional rewards'' says Eva. The feeling that you get when you make other people happy or you change their life in some way. I was surprised, when I started styling, that a pair of glasses can do that. She is adding taster courses to the academy in areas including colour, and is planning to start holding live events and awards."
