It’s been a very busy week, and to cap it off one of the large trees in the garden that in the three years we have been here never produced any fruit is this summer loaded with small yellow cherry plums. They are ready to be harvested, I know this because about three million birds have begun the harvest in the last couple of days!

My project of making a fruit picking tool like the one my Dad made when I was a boy (I have never seen one like it since, so I don’t know if he invented it but is is very effective) suddenly took on some urgency. I finished it this morning, and this evening have a large bucket of plums to freeze until I decide what to create with them!

Tulips at Edendale

My country as you may know is famous for our agricultural produce which we export to the world – we certainly cannot eat it all ourselves! Kiwifruit, Manuka Honey, Venison, Lamb, Beef, Fruit etc. etc…oh and Dairy products!

We also have in Southland a tulip farm, which exports tulip bulbs to the world. And probably cut flowers. I found one of their paddocks on my way home from our cottage at the coast. I guess pink is in this year!

A 35mm film photo made with Kodak Ektar 100 film. I used a Lee Filters CPL filter to bring the sky forward and reduce reflection on the flowers, enhancing the colour a little. I hope you like it 🙂
