Last Friday I did a metric century (100 km, or 62 miles) which I’d signed up for as a challenge on Strava. I picked a good day for it as it was nice and cool in the morning, starting out at 7 AM and ending up a little before 11. I headed to the four corners around Morgan Hill, northwest first, then “around the reservoirs” (Chesbro and Uvas) which takes you to the Southwest, then down Day road and north on Santa Teresa boulevard before turning east and crossing over the valley, to the Southeast on rural roads in San Martin and Gilroy, the north again onto roads northeast of Morgan Hill. It took me 3 hours 45 minutes which is an average speed of 16.5 mph. My average heart rate was 107 which is a good brisk pace for an OG. I was pretty wiped after this. This is nice for a challenge but hopefully not too often! For the foreseeable future I’d like to keep my longest rides down to about 2 1/2 hours. I gave myself a couple of easy days after Friday and felt fine by Monday.

Climbing up the hill to Chesbro reservoir on Oak Glen Ave
Oak Glen Ran into Uvas Road and I turned South
Flying down the hill on Uvas rd from the Dam at Uvas reservoir
On Watsonville road, approaching Chictatic Adams County park for a break, I headed south a couple of more miles than turned around and went back to Day road. Unfortunately my camera’s memory card got full at this point, I’d forgotten to empty in before the ride.
