Adidas Deerupt runner – 3D printing experience at the Adidas Originals store

The Dimension Alley Design and 3D-Printing Team was on site for the Adidas „Deerupt“ product launch on March 22 and 23rd, 2018 at the Tauentzien Str. Adidas Originals Store on Berlin’s Ku’Damm. Adidas created an augmented reality tour to early patrons of the new „Deerupt“ innovative running shoe series, which uses the simplicity of a fine net structure to give form, support and comfort to the wearer. As part of the tour, customers received a live 3D-Printing exhibition. Key-chain sized miniature- and full-colour sandstone shoe models were also presented to customers with the purchase of a pair of the new sport-shoes. The results of this 3D Printing exhibition highlighted the strides made in modelling and prototyping technology in the past years. Rendering the fine mesh structure covering the top of the shoe in detail for the 3D models required particular skill and technical expertise from the 3D scanning process to printing the final result. The „Deerupt“ launch miniature models served as an example of the nearly limitless range of applications for this rapid prototyping, design and printing technology in the creation of every imaginable object or idea, from the technical, functional, to the aesthetic and everywhere in between.
