Hi friend! Yay for Friday! We made it through the first week of school! Granted, it was just a half week, so that made it a little easier. But, the early mornings are definitely an adjustment to my kids who had fully embraced sleeping in during summer! If you are back to school, I hope it’s going well!
I have a new YouTube video that shares our back-to-school prep, including how I plan my week, the routines and healthy habits that help keep things running smoothly, a back workout and the new body pod analyzer I’ve been using at home.

New Home Decor Updates
Today I’m sharing some home decor updates around the house. Nothing too major – just some styling switch ups here and there with a bigger change to our bedroom.
Some of these little projects have been on my mind for months and I finally pulled the trigger. I’m loving how everything turned out!
I used Chat GPT for a couple of these changes and I’ll tell you all about that later in the post. I found it really helpful for visualizing how the spaces would look before I changed them!

Green Olive Branches • Plum Nandina Branches • White Branches • Green Nandina Branches
First up, I love the look of stems styled in vases and ordered a few varieties so I could see how they looked in person. Sometimes I order knowing I may have to return, but I ended up liking all of these, so they are keepers!

These stems have rounded leaves and a more lifelike feel.

These stems have a pointier tip but very lush and full.

These plum branches might be my favorite, especially as we head into fall.

White Branches • Plum Nandina Branches
I also got the white version and they are pretty year round. Below you’ll see how I styled all these branches, mixing and matching some of them into a single arrangement.

I like having this big console table behind our sofa to style throughout the seasons. Elliott and I found that copper vase in Round Top and it’s a focal piece with the plum branches.

I love using our coffee table books as decor too. And always candles.

Our coffee table is great with a shelf on the bottom which holds my journaling basket – inside are stickers, markers, pens, etc. I like having them within arm’s reach, but also out of the way.

I’m loving the set of candle cloches that I found on Amazon. At first I ordered the gold, but they were a bit too yellow, so I exchanged them for the black and I like those better.

This jar candle smells really good and I grabbed the match box from State of Grace where we had a date night last weekend.

I will also say the candle holders came packaged very securely so they don’t break during transit.

Kitchen/Dining Room
Our first floor is open concept, so I try to keep things flowing visually from room to room.

I bought this little black lamp originally for the upstairs hallway, then we ended up adding sconces, so I wasn’t sure if I would keep this lamp. I decided to try it in the kitchen and we ended up really liking having that ambient light at night.
So, now I can take the tag off!

The riser is a vintage find from Round Top. And James made that lidded jar in ceramics class:) I have lots of his creations around the house.
I’ve also been wanting to add more framed photos around the house and ordered several from Amazon. How sweet is this pic of Jordan in her pumpkin costume?! And it fits the approaching season.

On the dining table, I mixed the green stems and the white florals for a big, lush arrangement.

Matches • Match Cloche • Coffee Table Book • Readers • Stems • Vase
Our family dinners have been going well and are becoming more of “just what we do” which has been the goal all along. I like to light a candle when we eat, so I added this candle and matches here.
And, since I apparently need eye glasses within arms reach at all times, I bought a pack of five (only $10!) and scatter them throughout the house.

Mirror • Planter • Matches • Match Cloche • Coffee Table Book • Readers • Stems • Vase
We’ve had that fiddle leaf fig tree for a couple of years now and it’s grown so much! It loves the bright light and I water it once a week.

Tray • Coaster • Matches • Match Cloche • Readers
Then I thought it would be nice to corral everything on a tray, so I added this oval shaped tray with scallop detail.
Upstairs Hallway
I’ve styled our upstairs landing different ways over the years, but most recently it was a winter theme and after Christmas, the dog art was still up.

Gray Malin Dog Print • Gray Malin Book • Red Frames • Dresser
I knew I wanted to add a large mirror and sconces, but it literally took me a full Saturday to source everything and try to find the right pieces. I got Chat GPT involved because I have a hard time visualizing things and it was really helpful!
I uploaded a photo of the space and the scones I was considering and Chat GPT mocked it up:

I could not find the right size mirror in that shape but came close with one at Crate & Barrel – but it was too expensive.
So, I kept looking and finally found a very affordable round mirror at Hobby Lobby.

Mirror • Sconces • Console • Vase • Stems • Fluted Dish • Candle Holders • Candles • Frame • Match Cloche • Curate Book • Gray Malin Book
It’s really big and fits the space very well – even though it’s black, I think it looks great!

I really like the gold sconces. I went with the square shape since the mirror was round. They are battery operated, so no drilling or electrician needed. And you can operate them from the remote, which I placed in the little marble bowl.

Primary Bedroom
Our bedroom was another space I turned to Chap GPT for help with. First, I shared images I had pinned on Pinterest for inspiration, then uploaded pics of my current bedroom.

Mirror • Similar Mirror • Sconces • Console • Vase • Similar Stems • Candle Holders • Candles • Rattan Box • Rug
For a minute I was considering replacing this mirror with a larger one, but since I just did that in the hallway, I really didn’t want to make another big mirror purchase. But, I loved the sconces and the light they provide, so I added a set here too.

Candle Holders • Candles • Rattan Box • Lifestyled • Portraits of Home
In this room, we went with the round sconces and I’m very thankful for a willing, handy fiance!

I styled the cabinet simply with books, candles a vase of flowers and that rattan box, which holds the sconce remote control.

Now, here’s the part where Chat came in- the main part of the room with the bed. I didn’t want to replace the bed, nightstands, lamps or mirror – so I sent Chat a pic of my room with inspo images and had it create a mock up design.
Here’s what it came up with:

Pretty, right?! But, the bench and rug aren’t “real” so I couldn’t find the exact thing online. And, where it has the olive tree is normally a tower fan, so that wouldn’t work either. But, I could put a potted olive branch on top of the nightstand;)

Wall Art • Similar Wall Art • Mirror • Similar Side Drawer • Lamp • Candle • Match Cloche • Faux Plant • Dyson Fan • Rug
I realized that the biggest changes would need to be switching out the old rug (not pictured) and replacing the grey settee with a lighter colored upholstered bench.
The settee is years old from Pottery Barn Kids and was in Jordan’s playroom at our old house. When we moved about 5 years ago, we lost the dedicated playroom and didn’t have a good spot for it, so we tried it at the end of the bed and liked having that extra seating option.
But, it takes up a lot of space, so I wanted to try a bench in it’s place.

I found this bench at Walmart and I’m so happy with it. It’s a great scale for our king sized bed too. And with the bench in here instead of the little couch, there’s so much more room!

I really like the rug too, but it’s hard to get a pic of what it actually looks like in person. In some of the photos, it’s looking more blue, but in person, it’s much more neutral.
