To celebrate Brothers & Sisters Day on 31 May, the Portuguese Large Families Association is organising a special event to welcome its members to an outdoor gathering near Lisbon, in Benavente.
The exclusive initiative for large families takes place in partnership with the Portuguese company Nautispot, which is owned by a large associated family.
During the day, more than 350 participants will enjoy inflatable water attractions and water slides; climbing; tree-top adventure courses; farm animals, among other activities and leisure moments.
For the APFN, Brothers & Sisters Day is a date that honours the value of sharing and family life. The date also carries the spirit of the motto of Fernando Ribeiro e Castro, founder of the APFN and ELFAC: “If you want to see a happy child, give them a sibling. If you want to see a very happy child, give them many siblings.”
This thought continues to be the guiding principle for the celebration of this day. The relationship between siblings is the first and most important “laboratory” of solidarity, resilience and friendship that a human being experiences.
