This was our favorite cookie recipe our Mama used when we were kids growing up in South Louisiana. I think it's because the simple ingredients were so handy and Mama could whip them up in a short amount of time.

These Best German Chocolate No-Bake Cookies are a similar sweet treat, but made with almond butter, chocolate, and coconut—another easy recipe for a no-bake cookie.

  1. Allow the cookies to cool to room temperature, and then they will be easy to remove from the paper and ready to serve.

HINT: The best way to form these cookies is to use two tablespoons or a medium cookie scoop to drop cookies onto wax paper or parchment paper. The best part is licking the spoon!

Substitutions

Here are a few substitutions for ingredients in this peanut butter chocolate quick treat:

  • Replace the dairy milk with another dairy-free milk, such as almond milk, coconut milk, or oat milk.
  • Use crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy peanut butter for a chewier texture.
  • For a smoother texture, use quick oats in place of the old-fashioned oats.
  • Substitute other nut butters, such as almond butter or cashew butter, for the peanut butter.

There's more than one way to eat this cookie!

  • Try swapping out and adding other ingredients in the original recipe, like in these German Chocolate No-Bakes, for a coconutty chocolate no-bake cookie recipe.
  • Crumble the cookies into an ice cream shake for a chocolate peanut butter blast.
