Timely nuggets of information and ideas we want to share with you.

This is my new hair dryer, and I am loving it!  It is the CNMSGM professional 1500W hair dryer.  It dries my hair very quickly, it is small and lightweight (under a pound), and it is quiet.  It uses negative ion technology and claims to dry hair 5 x faster than other dryers.  It has a temperature control system that is easy to use, with four temperatures – hot, warm, soft, and cool.  It is good for all hair types.  $59.99.

Neutrals like grays, beiges and various shades of ecru, have been popular decorating preferences for a while.  They create a calm, uniform, spacious atmosphere, which is the goal, and is quite lovely. I am a color person, but I appreciate the blank canvas they create into which to insert some color. This pair of rib planter sleeves are modern and stretchy – they would do the trick.  They were originally designed for houseplants but would also suit appropriately sized vases.  There are four colorways from which to choose.  $38.00 for a pair of the sleeves, one short and one tall.

ASE subscriber Kathy A. recently spent a month in Australia and while there discovered a handbag company called Vestirsi that she adores!  The company is female owned, the designs are done in Australia, and then sent to Italy for the handbags to be made with wonderful Italian craftsmanship and leather.  They offer free DHL shipping for orders over $100.  Kathy’s favorite is the Scarlett Hobo, which comes in four colors and leathers, on sale now for $249.00.

If you prefer a smaller bag, I like the Ashley Leather Crossbody Bag that can be pre-ordered for $259.00.

How to tell percale sheets from Sateen sheets.

Good Housekeeping recently posted a helpful chart with the differences between percale and sateen sheets.  I am a loyal percale fan, but many of my friends won’t sleep on anything but sateen.  Here are the important differences

Percale Pros

They feel cool, light, and crisp
Breathable
Pilling is rare
Good for hot sleepers

Percale Cons

They will crease and wrinkle more
They can feel rougher than sateen

Sateen Pros

Feel very soft, silky, and smooth
Have a slight silky sheen
Don’t wrinkle as much as percale
They are substantially thicker than percale
Create a cozy bed

Sateen Cons

They might be too thick for some, especially hot sleepers
Do not feel cool and crisp like percale
