Order of Man - Protect, Provide, Preside It’s easy to think freedom looks like an empty schedule. No obligations. Room to do whatever.
That's not freedom. That's an undefended resource.
An open day doesn't stay open. It gets taken. By the notification. By the guy who needs "five minutes." By the kid's practice you forgot about. By the two hours you lost to a screen and can't account for. You didn't choose any of it. You just failed to claim the ground first, so someone else walked in and claimed it for you.
Here's the part men miss. Every hour you don't assign gets assigned by somebody else. The only question is whether you're the one holding the pen.
Routine is not a cage. Routine is a perimeter. It's the line you draw that says this hour belongs to my training, this one belongs to my wife, this one belongs to the work that actually matters. Everything else can wait outside the wire.
Look at yesterday. Be honest. How much of it did you actually choose? And how much of it happened to you?
Then look at tomorrow and take one block back. Just one. Put a stake in the ground and defend it.
Freedom isn't the absence of structure. Freedom is what structure protects.
