Concerns about the future of exhibit judging are once again resurfacing within the Canadian philatelic community, as long-standing warnings about a shortage of qualified judges show little sign of easing.
Despite repeated calls from the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada for new judges at the local, regional and national levels, the pool of accredited jurors remains limited. While society officials acknowledge the challenge, exhibitors and collectors continue to question whether enough is being done to attract, train and retain the next generation of judges.
RPSC leadership maintains the issue is front and centre. Recent statements from the society point to outreach efforts, educational panels and internal discussions aimed at demystifying the judging process and encouraging members to get involved, even as critics argue progress has been slow.
