Odisha govt demands answers from association after floodlight failure in IND vs ENG 2nd ODI

During the much anticipated IND vs ENG 2nd ODI, on Sunday, at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, the one day turned chaotic due to a floodlight failure which resulted match halting for a few minutes. During the second ODI game between India and England, when India was chasing a target of 305 runs, the lights went out. “It caused a delay of about 35 minutes, making fans and players uncomfortable,” explained the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA). Now on the situation Odisha government is asking questions to the cricket association, demanding a written explanation on what went wrong.

What exactly happened during IND vs ENG 2nd ODI?

India was batting at 48 without any loss in 6.1 overs when one of the floodlight towers started flickering and then went off completely. India’s skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, along with the entire England team, retreated to the dugout. “The problem was with a generator that powered one of the six lights,” shared insiders from the OCA, according to Indian Express causing the game to pause temporarily.

Odisha government asks for Answers

The Odisha government’s sports department got involved after the incident. “We want a detailed explanation about why this happened and who is responsible,” said the government in a letter to the OCA. They also insisted on knowing how future issues would be avoided. The OCA was instructed to deliver this report within ten days.
