The Baltimore Ravens have more than enough talent on defense.
However, one of their players may stand out from the rest of the pack, not because he’s better, but because of his intriguing potential.
And after years of struggles with injuries, David Ojabo might finally be ready to prove his worth.
At least, that’s how coach John Harbaugh feels:
“The thing about David Ojabo — it’s important to remember — he’s not a guy that played a lot of football. […] So, football is kind of one of these games where the more you play it, the better feel you have for it. It’s like any sport, probably, but I think his upside is really there, and I believe that we’ll see it. I think we’ve seen it already in camp. I’m looking forward to the games so [that] everybody can see it, really. But yes, he’s an upside guy,†John Harbaugh said.
Ojabo has been limited to just 18 regular-season games in three years, 13 of which came last season.
The Nigerian OLB moved to Scotland when he was young, ultimately making his way to New Jersey, where he started playing football at 17 years old.
Of course, that means he’s still pretty raw and young in football years, as he’s just 25 years old.
Ojabo didn’t take the field in his first year in Michigan, and he was only out there for six games during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
Then, in 2021, he dominated opposite Aidan Hutchinson, logging 11 sacks and looking like a can’t-miss first-round selection.
Unfortunately, he tore his Achilles tendon during his Pro Day, but that didn’t stop the Ravens from taking him in the second round.
He played just two games as a rookie, and he only suited up for three more in his second year in the league.
Fast forward to today, and he’s fighting for his football life and just trying to make the 53-man roster.
But even if the Ravens cut him loose, he’s just talented and physically gifted enough for other teams to give him one last chance.
