A rejig at the Punjab Kings (PBKS) saw them have a successful IPL 2025 campaign. Going at the mega auction with over Rs 110 crore, PBKS spent their money wisely and built a superlative team under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer and with Ricky Ponting as head coach. While PBKS couldn’t cross the final hurdle and lost to RCB in the IPL 2025 final.

However, they have a strong core set for IPL 2026 as well, with most of their retention decisions being straightforward. As far as all-rounders are concerned, however, there are certain players that could be released. With as many as seven all-round options available to them, let us break down PBKS’ options for all-rounders ahead of IPL 2026 retentions (November 15).

Say yes to Stoinis and Maxwell

The main justification for PBKS keeping both Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis should be the fact that their combined costs are only Rs 15.20 crore. In an era where someone like Venkatesh Iyer is worth Rs 23.75, having two world-class all-rounders at that cost is amazing. Both have a classic resume and share an incredible repertoire with coach Ponting. Yes, Maxwell might not have put up great IPL performances recently, but he is a X-factor and at Rs 4.20, he is a steal.

Also, Marcus Stoinis has been in a superb form for Australia. Since the T20 World Cup 2024, Stoinis has mustered 229 runs at an average and SR of 38.2 and 146.79. Another pick should obviously be Marco Jansen, who is a terrific new-ball bowler. He took 16 wickets last season and was crucial for the side.

Meanwhile, PBKS also have Suryansh Shegde in their ranks. The 22-year-old from Mumbai recently played for India A under Shreyas Iyer as well, and is touted as a great talent. Invest Rs 30 lac on him and you may unearth a certain starter. However, with PBKS already having 10 overseas players in the squad (including replacements), they need to get rid of some foreigners. Hence, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mitchell Owen and Aaron Hardie could be those options.

Marcus Stoinis (Rs 11 cr), Glenn Maxwell (Rs 4.20 cr), Marco Jansen (Rs 7 cr), Suryansh Shedge (Rs 30 lac), Azmatullah Omarzai (Rs 2.40 cr), Aaron Hardie (Rs 1.25 cr), Mitchell Owen (Rs 3 crore)
