Celebrating 12 Years of Lady and Her Sweet Escapes with Afternoon Tea at The Lounge

Twelve years! I can hardly believe that it’s been over a decade since I first hit "publish" on my very first post. What started as a simple passion project—a space where I could share my travels and sweet escapes—has blossomed into something so much more. Although we now focus more on creating video content for Instagram and YouTube, writing remains close to my heart. Even though I don’t write as often, I still find time to pursue my passion for words and storytelling. Today, as I take a moment to reflect on the past 12 years, it feels only fitting to celebrate in a place that’s as elegant and tranquil as the journey has been—The Lounge at Address Beach Resort. After a personal health milestone that reminded me of the importance of slowing down and savoring life’s sweet moments, there seemed no better way to honor both occasions than with a quintessential afternoon tea. The Lounge: Where Modern Elegance Meets Comfort Nestled within the contemporary chic Address Beach Resort, The Lounge greets you with an understated charm. The soft neutral tones of the décor, plush seating, and large windows framing the breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf set the scene for a serene afternoon. It’s a space where you can feel at home while being completely pampered—perfect for reflecting on a personal journey and celebrating milestones. Afternoon Tea: A Delicate Celebration When the afternoon tea arrived, we admired the beautiful tiered stand, each level revealing small treasures crafted with care. We started with the savory bites, where my husband happily enjoyed the smoked salmon finger sandwiches—a little indulgence he couldn’t resist, especially since I can’t eat raw food myself. The sandwiches were paired with cream cheese and cucumber, and though I skipped the salmon, there were plenty of other delightful options to enjoy. Then, we moved to the sweets, which felt like a celebration all on their own. The miniature pastries, scones served with clotted cream, and elegant desserts sparkled with vibrant colors and delicate flavors. My husband had no trouble finishing every last chocolate-coated strawberry, savoring each one while I relished the other treats, like the bright and tangy lemon tart that brought back memories of sun-drenched escapes. Each bite, both sweet and savory, felt like a moment to pause and celebrate our shared journey over these 12 wonderful years. And of course, the tea—a fragrant, soothing brew—was our perfect companion. Every sip was like a gentle pause, a moment to reflect and appreciate how far we’ve come. From the very beginning, he has been there through every step—encouraging my passion, joining me on countless sweet escapes, and even happily enjoying the treats I have to skip, like the smoked salmon and those chocolate-coated strawberries today. Beyond sharing the adventures, he’s also been my greatest ally in the technical side of this blog, helping me navigate the world of hosting, site maintenance, and the many tiny details that keep Lady and Her Sweet Escapes running smoothly. It’s been 12 years of adventures, made all the sweeter by his presence, patience, and unwavering support. This milestone wouldn’t be as meaningful without him by my side. As I sipped the last drop of tea, I felt hopeful for what’s to come. More sweet escapes, more adventures, and of course, more milestones—each one a reminder of how far we’ve come and how much more there is to explore. Here’s to 12 years of Lady and Her Sweet Escapes, and here’s to the next chapter, as we continue to savor the journey, one sweet escape at a time.
