San Diego Whale Watch We had an amazing sunset trip with a Humpback whale and ~500 Long-beaked Common dolphins!
We cruised out to the west and once we got to the drop-off we followed the contour to the north. We noticed a huge bird pile with birds diving into the water! We caught up with a fun pod of ~500 Long-beaked Common dolphins. They raced over to us and bow-rode the boat and surfed beside us! We sighted a huge spout next to them which belonged to a Humpback whale! We were excited to see it surface for 5-7 breaths and down for 6-min dives. We didn’t get to see too many tails except for the first one, but we enjoyed close looks. The ride home was nice and smooth!
