Not Just for Tapestry

By Sandy Sternard Everyone who has used Mirrix's Hand-Painted Silk by Claudia knows how beautiful it is. It is used in many of our bracelet kits and the Prism Tapestry Kit. But did you know how versatile it is? Claudia often uses it for her needlepoint projects and keeps telling me it would be great used for knitting and crochet. I recently picked up crochet again and thought I would give it a try. I wanted to make something special and useful at the same time. Claudia's granddaughter Lily wears her hair in a ponytail or pigtails often. How great it would be for her to wear her grandmother's beautiful silk in her favorite color. So I gave it a try. I used one strand of regular silk and one strand of Gima Tape Silk crocheted around a hair band or thin elastic. And it worked great!  I had so much fun making the pink set that I decided to make more.    The two different silks together complement each other and I highly recommend using it for other projects like needlepoint and even for making lace! You can find all of our hand-painted silk here.
