White House Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said on Sunday that the White House does not want to completely ban the use of the TikTok platform in the country. Kirby added in an interview with ABC that the draft law passed in the US House of Representatives does not impose a complete ban on the use of the platform. Commenting on the initiative that members of Congress supported this week in this regard, Kirby said: “We will see how things go in the Senate. We are happy that the House of Representatives has approved this decision and we urge the Senate to quickly consider this issue.” He continued: “I want to stress again that this is not a matter of imposing a complete ban on TikTok.” In response to the broadcaster’s comment, which said that “the platform may be completely banned after the decision is passed,” Kirby added: “Maybe, but we do not want it to be banned. What we want is for the Chinese company ByteDance to stop controlling the platform, and because, like all Americans, "We should care about the security of our data and worry about what China could exploit it for." The Hill newspaper reported that lawmakers in the US House of Representatives have introduced a bill that would ban the TikTok application. The newspaper said   that the draft law “aims to protect Americans from applications supervised by foreign adversaries.” On Wednesday, the US House of Representatives approved a bill that could potentially ban the TikTok application, and lawmakers propose to give ByteDance six months to sell the platform, otherwise TikTok may be banned in the United States.
