The Financial Times reported that Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential elections will mark the end of Western hegemony on the global stage, and Europe must be prepared for that. The newspaper's assessment of the West's prospects is linked to the statements Trump makes regarding both the European Union and NATO. “The dangerous reality is that Trump’s second term will likely represent the end of the West as an organizing idea on the world stage,” the newspaper wrote. Financial Times journalists considered that this would be “great news” for Russian President Vladimir Putin and “terrible for Ukraine.” Trump stressed earlier during an interview with "Time" magazine that if he returns to the White House,  he will try to help Ukraine , but Europe must also pay its fair share. John Bolton, National Security Advisor in the administration of former US President Donald Trump, also said last month that the latter is preparing to remove the United States from NATO if he is elected president next November.
