Sometimes, I Don’t Listen

This is Fruitycake. Does anyone know what day it is?! Seems like all of the days are running together lately.

Persons have a lot of days off lately and yet, they seem to be rushing around more than they usually are. Sometimes, I don’t understand persons. And sometimes, I also don’t listen to persons. For good reason. Or not. Depends on the day.

Because persons are not always right. Sometimes they are right. But sometimes. No.

Some persons think that just because Brickle is older, he doesn’t have as much value. Or that we shouldn’t try new ways to help him. Just because someone like Brickle is older, it doesn’t mean that he is ready to give up. He sill has the right to feel better. And even good.

I may be young. I may not have the experiences in life that Brickle has. I also may not have the wisdom my persons have. But I know something simple. That if someone wants to try, let them. That’s not our decision. It is put responsibility to support them.

Even when it’s harder for us.

Brickle has never been one to fake anything. He knows all. He tells all. And as long as he tells us he wants to try, we let him. We help him try. He has given so much to so many people and animals over the years. He deserves our absolute best. And that’s what he will get.

All of us have a will to live. Sometimes it’s harder to find that will when life is so very difficult. So when we know how easy it is to give up, give the ones that don’t want to give up credit. Like Brickle. And learn from them.

What is right for one individual like Brickle may not be what is right for another dog or individual. That’s ok. That’s where wisdom and discernment comes in. You may wonder how I know that. It’s because that’s how much Brickle has told me and taught me already.

I wish that time didn’t have to take away strength. I wish time didn’t have to take away youth and vitality. I wish time didn’t take away TIME. But it’s up to us to make time count in wonderful and beautiful and happy ways. And to do all we can for the ones who we will love forever. I won’t listen to anyone that tells me different.
