Jamie Carragher says Arsenals Gabriel Martinelli was electric vs Liverpool

Arsenal started the game brilliantly against Liverpool at Anfield this evening.

The Gunners were all over Jurgen Klopps side in the early exchanges of the game, and it took us just four minutes to open the scoring.

Gabriel Magalhaes headed in a lovely cross from Martin Odegaard, and we really believed Liverpool were there for the taking at that point. However, the Reds bounced back through Mohamed Salah to make it 1-1, and thats how the game ended.

Speaking during Sky Sports broadcast of the game this evening, Jamie Carragher singled out one Arsenal player for causing Liverpool problems Gabriel Martinelli.

The Brazilian was always an outlet for us to go forward, and Carragher appears to have loved his pace and ability to run with the ball.

Martinelli has been electric in this game, he said.

Martinelli was actually really poor vs Liverpool

Gabriel Martinellis pace gave us a lot of hope early on in the game, but the Arsenal winger really struggled to get going.

He found himself one-on-one against Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate on a few occasions, but he couldnt make the most of those situations.

Martinelli, who was given a 6/10 on Arsenal Insiders player ratings following the draw against Liverpool, also looked hesitant to make runs into the box when the ball was on the opposite side. He missed out on a couple of good opportunities as a result.

The Brazilians electric pace is the cause of nightmares for every defender in the Premier League, but he will have to do a lot more than he did at Anfield today to fulfil his massive potential.
