SAS flight Copenhagen-Oslo declares emergency

An SAS scheduled flight from Copenhagen to Oslo has declared an emergency shortly after departure, and is currently returning to Copenhagen.

SAS flight SK1462, an Airbus A321 operating from Copenhagen (CPH) to Oslo (OSL) declared an emergency with squawk code 7700 and is currently negotiating a return to CPH.

Data for this morning’s SAS flight SK1462 shows the flight made an on-time departure out of Copenhagen Airport at 07:59 local time, and had passed through 5,000 feet on initial climb after takeoff.

Precautionary return CPH


The aircraft subsequently declared the general emergency with transponder code 7700; discontinuing the climb and expediting a circuit before returning to the departure airport.

The emergency was declared at approximately 08:16 local time; just over a quarter of an hour after departure from Copenhagen. The nature of the problem prompting the precautionary return is not yet known.

The flight subsequently landed at CPH at 08:33 local time.

The aircraft conducting this morning’s service to Oslo is an Airbus A321-253NX registered SE-DMS; a 2-year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the Scandinavian carrier SAS Scandinavian Airlines.

The carrier initially took delivery of the A321neo aircraft in February 2022. Scandinavian Airlines, commonly known as SAS, operates as the flag carrier of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
