As per World Airline News, it is understood services will commence on March 31, 2024 between Baku and London Gatwick with Azerbaijan Airlines.

Such services will begin on a thrice-weekly basis, with aircraft type not yet confirmed. If patterns from Heathrow are anything to observe, it could range anywhere between the Boeing 787 Dreamliners or the Airbus aircraft they have in their fleet.

The airline becomes the latest to give Gatwick a chance in terms of such flights, especially with the enhanced connectivity seen into Central London in recent years.

Such expansion has been on the eyes of the carrier for quite some time now, having made moves like it’s new Beijing services for example.

What has also been observed, particularly in Europe and the Middle East, is that services into the CIS region are receiving significant demand.

For example, LOT Polish Airlines is set to launch services between Warsaw and Tashkent, with carriers such as flynas launching services into Tashkent & Bishkek too.

All eyes will be on how the CIS region continues to develop in terms of air connectivity as we enter the new year full of excitement for the industry.
