The Small Business Development Center at The University of Scranton (SBDC) was honored to celebrate Shores Sisters Farm Market of Towanda, Bradford County, as the SBA’s National Rural Small Business of the Year!

This prestigious award, presented by the U.S. Small Business Administration, recognized one business nationally, making this an extraordinary achievement for co-owners Renee Shores Wilson and Michael Wilson.

Over 100 guests attended the celebration, including elected officials, SBA representatives, community leaders, family, friends, and supporters who gathered to recognize the incredible impact Shores Sisters Farm Market has made in rural Pennsylvania.

Founded in 2004 by sisters Renee and Raya Shores while they were still in high school, Shores Sisters Farm Market has grown into a year-round destination offering locally sourced produce, meats, specialty food products, rustic home décor, a greenhouse and garden center, café and event space, and boutique apparel and gifts.

The SBDC was proud to support the business through no-cost consulting services including feasibility studies, market research, financial analysis, and business planning as Renee and Mike expanded operations with the help of SBA financing.

“As a SBDC Business Consultant working with owners Renee and Mike, I have had the privilege of witnessing the remarkable growth, character, and community commitment that defines their work,” said Gretchen Kukuchka, Business Consultant at the Small Business Development Center at The University of Scranton, who nominated the business for this national recognition.

Congratulations to Renee, Mike, and the entire Shores Sisters team on this well-deserved honor!
