Best Time Of Year To Get Ducts Cleaned
When considering the best time of year to get the ducts cleaned is your house, there are times throughout the year to consider. It is most important in the Fall and Winter, when your furnace is running. The Spring and Summer months are also an important consideration when the air conditioner starts to run. Over the the past couple years, the ducts, trunk lines and air controller have collected dust, contaminates, animal hair, skin cells, pollens and bacteria. All of these affect air quality, what your breathing in and allergies.
How Long Ago Were The Ducts Cleaned
This is the most important factor when determining when to get the air ducts cleaned.
- New construction build. There is always a lot of drywall dust that has a solid layer within the ducts and trunk lines. There is also construction material, sawdust, and just a lot of crap from the build.
- Moving into a previously owned home. The house contains all the dust and contaminates from the previous owner. The ducts will have all their germs, animal hair, and just a lot of old dust.
- Rental house. Rental houses typically are not maintained very well. Renters typically don’t vacuum the floors on a regular basis. All the dirt and dust on the floors get sucked into the vents, build up, and continually recirculate throughout the air flow.
- Every 3-5 years. According to NADCA, it is advised to get the air ducts cleaned every 3-5 years.
