Timely nuggets of information and ideas we want to share with you.

After a $9 billion loss in 2025, the USPS is in danger of running out of money in less than 12 months. The Postmaster General has proposed as much as a 20% increase in the cost of first-class stamps, from the current price of 78 cents to as high as 95 cents. This seems like a large increase but a look into other countries’ postal charges shows that in France, for example, the cost of a first-class stamp is almost $3.00, and the same stamp in the U.K costs around $2.50.

I don’t mean to do the USPS out of future earnings, but I suggest thinking about stocking up on Forever stamps sooner rather than later. A Forever stamp purchased at any price, at any time will always be valid for mailing a standard one-ounce first-class letter — no matter how much the postage rate increases in the future.

Food & Wine did a taste test of 11 supermarket cheddar cheeses. We cook and eat a great deal of cheddar cheese, almost always bought in the supermarket, so I was thrilled to be guided to the best of what is offered. The Best Overall winner was Kerrygold Aged Cheddar, which is aged for one year in Ireland and made with grass-fed cow’s milk. It costs around $7.00 for 7 ounces. Read the entire article here.

This OXO Good Grips 2-cup angled measuring cup is unusual because the measurements are on a slanted surface inside the cup.  This allows you to see the measurements by looking down instead of having to get eye level with it.  It is lightweight with a soft, non-slip handle.  It is also available in 1-cup and 4-cup sizes.  $13.95

About 39% of American households have a doorbell camera.   Other than their security duties, doorbell cameras have provided unexpected entertainment and interest.  Many users love the wildlife that appear on the cameras and happily share the cutest clips with friends.  The cameras are very useful to chat with anyone who rings the doorbell when you are not home.  Finally, they can come in very handy as neighborhood watches if anything happens near or on your property.  A neighbor was able to track her lost dog’s path by looking at other neighbors’ doorbell cameras footage and seeing where he was heading.  She found him in his favorite park at the end of the street.  Doorbell cameras can be annoying every time you get a ping of ‘motion’ by your front door, but I appreciate the peace of mind they bring, along with the extra entertainment and information they can provide.
