Madelaine Petsch Wears a Powder Blue Bustier for Her 32nd Birthday Shoot

Madelaine Petsch Wears a Powder Blue Bustier for Her 32nd Birthday Shoot

Madelaine Petsch turned a vintage convertible, a corseted satin mini, and one very serious cake into the birthday content of the summer.

Madelaine ‌Petsch ‌didn’t ‌need a red carpet to land the fashion moment of the week. All it took was a convertible, a headscarf, and a cake balanced right in her lap.

She turned 32 on Aug. 18 and celebrated with a birthday shoot that feels like it wandered out of a 1970s road film, the kind of scene you swear you’ve seen before but can’t place. Andie Jane took the photos, Anyssa Maciel handled styling, and the setup is instantly cinematic: Petsch sunk into the caramel leather backseat of a vintage white convertible while the Los Angeles sky shifts into that late, violet dusk, palms turning into dark cutouts in the background. It’s glamorous. It’s a little wild, in the most satisfying way. And she’s all in.

Powder Blue, Palm Trees, and a Rhinestone Crown: Inside Madelaine Petsch’s Birthday Shoot

The main look does most of the talking, a powder-blue bustier, strapless, with a deep sweetheart neckline and boned, structured panels that pull the waist into a clean hourglass. The material reads like duchesse satin, that thicker, sculptural kind that keeps its form and reflects light in crisp sheets instead of sparkle. From the corseted top, pale blue ribbon ties drift down over a short skirt, adding a slightly messy, ballet-leaning softness that plays against the rigidity up top. Strapless corsetry doesn’t forgive anyone, incredibly busty and that’s the point, but she makes it look effortless: toned shoulders, defined arms, and a sharp line from collarbone to waist that sells the shape better than any campaign image ever could.

Then the styling starts to have fun with it. A butter-yellow silk headscarf, knotted under her chin and trailing over one shoulder, carries the old-Hollywood daydream, part Grace Kelly, part woman on the run. A crystal cross pendant sits on a chunky silver chain, paired with a delicate bracelet and a stack of cocktail rings. Her copper-red hair is worn in loose, shiny waves; the makeup stays gentle, rosy blush lifted high, soft lashes, warm gloss on the lips. And at some point, someone hands her a rhinestone “BIRTHDAY GIRL” headband, which flips the mood from editorial to pure celebration. One photo catches the best of it, her mid-scream, arms thrown up, the scarf snapping overhead in the air. That’s the frame you remember.

The cake also earns its own moment. It’s a tall white confection with piped ruffles, pearl-like details, and sugar bows, and she eats it straight from the backseat with a fork. No table. No plate. No careful candle setup. Just Petsch, a fork, and a car.

It’s a neat cap on a busy year, too. In February she wrapped her The Strangers trilogy with Chapter 3, completing a three-film stretch as final girl Maya, shot back-to-back-to-back under director Renny Harlin, and she took a producer credit on the last one. Also, her new film Pretty Babies just debuted at Edinburgh International Film Festival After more than 100 episodes as Cheryl Blossom, she’s spent her post-Riverdale stretch carving out a different lane, especially in horror.

Thirty-two suits her. Powder blue does too.
