WEST SPRINGFIELD — When a member of the CrossFit Rift Valley community was diagnosed with breast cancer, her friends and fellow gym members wanted to show up for her. On Sunday, Sept. 13, Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni and CrossFit Rift Valley will host AMRAP 4 ANNA, a fundraiser for longtime member Anna Borowik as she undergoes treatment.
The event marks the third annual Get Fit, Give Back fundraiser hosted by Gulluni and CrossFit Rift Valley. This year, the effort is personal. Borowik is a beloved member of the gym community and a two-time Valley Star.
“Anna has always been someone who shows up for the people around her, and now it is our turn to show up for her,” Gulluni said. “This event is about more than a workout. It is about community, compassion, and making sure Anna and her family know they have people standing beside them.”
AMRAP 4 ANNA will begin at 9 a.m. at CrossFit Rift Valley, 136 Doty Circle, West Springfield. The workout is open to all fitness levels and abilities, and no CrossFit experience is required.
Registration is $100 per team of two and includes the workout and an event T-shirt. Local vendors and a food truck will also be on site. Those who do not want to participate in the workout are encouraged to come out, cheer on participants, and be part of the day.
“Anna is a longtime member, a wonderful friend, and the heart of our gym,” said Bree Wiater, co-owner and head coach of CrossFit Rift Valley. “Her positive attitude is nothing short of incredible throughout this trying time, and coming together to support her is the least we could do to show her how loved she is by our gym family.”
All proceeds will help offset costs associated with Borowik’s breast cancer treatment. Donations are also welcome from those unable to attend. Checks or Venmo donations can be made to CrossFit Rift Valley with “AMRAP 4 ANNA” included in the description.
