Festivals feel even more magical when celebrated with little ones, and twinning in matching outfits makes those moments even sweeter. These days are fleeting—soon they’ll grow, develop their own style, and may not want to wear what we lovingly pick for them. That’s why these twinning memories feel so precious while they’re still young. Every Navratri, I love trying something new, and this year I want to share mommy and my 9-month-old baby girl matching Indian outfits in the colors of Navratri (as much as I can!). I know it won’t be easy with work and all the planning it takes, but the effort is worth it—these are the memories I’ll hold closest to my heart as she grows.

Mommy and Baby Girl Indian Matching Outfits In White
For Navratri Day 1, it’s the color of peace—white. A beautiful way to begin the festival with calm and positivity. This outfit is also perfect for Onam, Ugadi, or any puja celebration at home.

For the outfits, my 9-month-old is dressed in a cute cotton white and red lehenga set from Studio Virupa’s Onam collection, while mine is from the same brand that I picked up a couple of years ago (last worn here and here). The dress is still available and remains one of my favorites—it looks festive, easy to dress up with gold Jhumkas and Gajra, and feels soft and comfortable on the skin.

Mommy and Baby Girl Indian Matching Outfits In Ikkat
For Day 2 of Navratri and Twinning outfits, I picked the beautiful ikkat weave. We first wore these outfits for Ugadi, and it feels so special to bring them out again. This time, I styled my saree a little differently, pairing it with a green bead necklace you’ve probably seen me wear often and a nose pin, because for me, a Navratri look feels complete without it.
My Bujjama wore an ikkat dress with a custom-made raw silk jacket, styled with a papidi billa (headpiece) and my mom’s beaded necklace—she looked beyond adorable in it🥹✨

Mommy and Baby Girl Indian Matching Outfits In Mysore Silk
One of my favorite tricks for mommy-and-me twinning is using the blouse fabric from a saree to make a baby outfit. For this pink Mysore silk saree, the blouse piece was blue. Since I already own a few blue blouses, I turned the fabric into a cute langa for my baby girl instead. You can try the same idea for baby boys—use the blouse fabric to make a kurta or dhoti.

I don’t know why Mysore silk pattu langas or baby dresses aren’t a thing—I’ve hardly seen any vendors selling them. I absolutely love how cute babies look in them. The effortless sheen of Mysore silk makes the outfit look dressy without trying, and it’s truly timeless and graceful.
