Not to toot my own horn, but I make a mean homemade pizza. And the best part? The dough is vegan, you only need three ingredients, and there’s NO wait time (no-yeast means no need for the dough to rise). I’m a huge fan of efficient, tasty meals that use real ingredients and are low waste. And there’s nothing more efficient than this! I’ve been making this pizza for years now and it’s always a hit. I have fond memories of my cousin coming over for our annual summer sleepovers and making this together. But now, I think it’s time I share it with all of you! All the ingredients can be found plastic-free, so what’s not to love? Here’s how to make the best no-yeast pizza dough from scratch.

The Best No-Yeast Pizza Dough From Scratch

Why make homemade pizza?
I share recipes on here every once and a while, despite this blog being about sustainability and low-waste living. The reason? It all ties together.
When we take time to make our meals from scratch, sourcing the ingredients plastic-free, we’re building sustainable habits. We’re finding ways to incorporate sustainability into the everyday – which is a powerful way to teach others through example.
Not every action towards helping the environment has to be grand, like a march or a protest (though, those are fantastic and we SHOULD be taking collective action). But individual actions matter too, and making a point to think of the environment in all our decisions, big or small, is impactful.
That’s why I love cooking at home. By making meals from produce I get from the local farmers market, or making this pizza from paper-based packaging, I’m showing up for the earth one meal at a time.
So if there’s one thing you do this week for the environment, let it be this: Make your own pizza! Name a more delicious way to be eco-friendly. I’ll wait.

Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups of flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2/3 cup of lukewarm water
- 1 teaspoon of olive oil
- Salt + dried herbs to taste (I love using dried basil and oregano – optional)
- Toppings (tomato sauce, mushrooms, cheese, spinach, etc.)
Note: You can find almost all these ingredients plastic-free in paper packaging. Olive oil can usually be bought in glass – what I like to do is reuse the glass container and refill it with a big tin of olive oil. But you might be able to find olive oil at a refillery as well. And if you garden, consider drying out the herbs yourself!

Directions:
- Combine flour, salt, dried herbs, and baking soda in a bowl. Add in water and olive oil gradually. Aim for the dough to be non-sticky. If you find it to be too sticky, add more flour. Too dry, more water.
- Once it can form a ball, flour a clean counter and roll it out. Transfer to a pizza stone and brush the dough with olive oil (it makes it extra crispy). Then top with some homemade sauce along with your favorite toppings (I love using whatever I have on hand – and you can easily keep it vegan by using vegan cheeses!).
- Pop into the oven and bake for 480 degrees F for ~8-15 minutes.
