I started this blog in 2009 as a way of sharing my new home of New Orleans with my friends from coast-to-coast and around the world. I wrote it anonymously since my friends already knew the author and I wanted to focus on what I was experiencing – “Carnival, Concerts, Cuisine & Culture.”

LAtoNOLA is now read in over 100 countries! My family has been from Louisiana for generations and New Orleans has always been my favorite city in the world, so it delights me to share this marvelous place with the world.

When I began this blog, I posted frequently. In 2012, my acting career got a boost from Django Unchained and it became harder to find time. Then I authored 8 books and it became even harder to find time for blogging. (That said – the 5-book mystery series was based in part on LAtoNOLA!)

In 2020, I began shooting a documentary about finding a balance between profiting from our tourism-based economy, and sustaining the historic buildings and unique culture people come here to see. I found even less time to blog. (The award-winning film, “Wasted: Overtourism & the French Quarter,” is still only available at film festivals but will be available for general viewing in the near future).

Long story short, I’ve been a bad blogger for years now. So when I had to make some monetary decisions about LAtoNOLA, I decided to check other options. After trying Substack, I’m happy to have landed at Ghost. If you’re already a subscriber – you don’t have to do anything. You should continue to receive notifications of my posts as usual. (Please comment if you don’t receive mail from me by April 2025). If you’re not already subscribed to this blog, I sincerely hope you will check me out on Ghost and subscribe to my posts!

Like LAtoNOLA, there will be photos and a view of New Orleans culture from someone who has become part of it as a parade dancer and more. Additionally, the new blog will share more of my journey and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the entertainment industry, as well as information about my 30-year acting/filmmaking career and the novel I’m currently working on – my 9th book!

I plan to continue keeping LAtoNOLA available as an archive and resource. Thank you to all of you for your time and attention!
